OBMT # 22076

Mindy is thrilled to be here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest after relocating from Chicago, IL. She brings with her 20 years of experience in massage therapy coupled with 30 plus years of dancing professionally. This allows her to provide extremely intuitive and effective bodywork entwining several modalities including Myofascial, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Sports and Table Thai Massage. Her forte is connectivity. An emphasis on your specific injuries, pain or concerns will be integrated thoroughly, providing you with a sense of completeness. A graduate of Western Michigan University’s Department of Dance, The Chicago School of Massage Therapy and Sellwood Yoga’s Teacher Training,  Mindy has dedicated her life to moving as efficiently and comfortably as possible and desires everyone to have the opportunity to experience living optimally in their bodies. Struggling for years with a hamstring injury, it was receiving massage therapy that finally facilitated the changes that were necessary to heal and move beyond the pain and restrictions. This life altering experience was the catalyst for her choosing the path of a massage therapist.

Testimonials

Mindy Meyers is my preferred therapist for chronic shoulder and neck issues. When I was in medical school and studying for my board exam many hours per day, I worked with her regularly to address the chronic neck/shoulder strain that came along with hitting the books so hard. After working with her, I was able to get through my entire eight hour exam day without any distractions from neck or shoulder pain. Mindy was truly essential to my success on that important exam, and I do not think I would have trusted any other therapist with this work. Speaking as a physician and an anatomist, I can state that Mindy’s knowledge of anatomy is extensive. This knowledge is immediately tangible to me as a client – her hands have a wisdom that you can feel. I would enthusiastically recommend her to any of my patients with acute or chronic musculoskeletal issues.

Mindy is the kind of massage therapist who not only reads but learns your body.  Bringing the physical empathetic understanding of a dancer to her work, Mindy’s deep listening results in care that is lasting.  She approaches massage like the physical practice that it is, breathing with you through the tough spots, coaching you through guided movement patterns, and giving you real solutions to daily pain management.

You know how some massage therapists are great technicians, but fall short on the bedside manner/spiritual element? And then there are those who have the right vibe, but lack the physical strength and ability to really dig deep (pun intended). The beauty of Mindy is that she combines expert technical skill with a caring personal touch. Her approach is fully holistic. At the end of a session, you are revived in both body & soul.

Mindy is amazing! I started working with Mindy over 10 years ago based on a recommendation from a trusted friend, who knows I’m very picky about massages. I’ve had too many massages go awry, as many people equate a deep tissue massage to pushing hard all over my body, resulting in bruises. Mindy’s knowledge of the body and expertise in addressing specific issues is unparalleled. She couples the physical aspect with a great approach to the mental state of mind, which results in a state of bliss and relaxation. I have not found another massage that comes close to a Mindy experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of massage and bodywork? Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork are also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.

How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session? Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water before and after your session.

Massage is your time to be in tune with your body. Focusing on your breathing and keeping communication to a minimum will enhance your experience.
